Bill Truesdell
Bill has gained extensive experience throughout his farming career which started at a young age in the 1960s. In the beginning of his career, Bill attended Jackson Vocation School and completed Agronomy and Ag Business classes. Throughout Bill’s career, he slowly and steadily expanded the farming operation through both owned and leased land and custom finishing pigs. By 2005 the operation had grown to the point it was ready for the next generation, when his son Ben joined and a few years later his son Andy joined the operation. Today, Bill’s primary responsibilities on the farm range from planting in the spring and harvesting crops in fall to being an advisor to his sons in the operation and management of the farm. Together, Bill and his wife Mary Kaye raised four children on the farm and have several grandchildren to keep them busy. Bill and Mary Kaye are members of the St Lukes Catholic Church and Bill is also a member of the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion, the Lions Club, and also the Soybean Growers Association.
Ben Truesdell
Ben began his farming career in 2003 after obtaining a bachelor’s degree in Agriculture from South Dakota State University. When Ben first joined the farm, his primary focus was on agronomy and crop production and he also expanded the custom livestock feeding business by adding more finishing buildings. Current focuses for Ben are crop planning, input purchases, finances, agronomy and drainage improvements. In 2012 Ben completed The Executive Program for Agricultural Producers (TEPAP) course through Texas A&M University to help sharpen his management skills and also remains a member of the Association of Agricultural Production Executives which facilitates annual continuing education courses for graduates of the TEPAP course. Ben is currently the Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors for NuWay cooperative and has been a board member since 2006. Ben’s wife Leslie graduated from South Central College in Mankato with an associate’s degree in Graphic Production. Leslie is currently raising their son, Rylan, at home and assists on the farm when needed, and has recently published two children’s books. Ben and Leslie are members of the St Johns Lutheran Church in Sherburn MN.
